2013 Hagafen Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley Estate
The 2013 vintage for Napa Valley is extraordinary. Drought conditions defined the growing season and led to one of Napa’s earliest harvests on record, the product of which displayed "off-the-chart levels of concentration” (Galloni) and "consistency in quality, depth of f lavor, texture, freshness, vibrancy and richness [that] was absolutely mind-boggling” (Parker). The critics agree. Robert Parker writes “2013 may turn out to be the finest vintage I have experienced in tasting North Coast varietals over the last 37 years. It's a game-changer in terms of the consistency of quality, the depth of quality, and the across-the-board excellence for so many wines.” Antonio Galloni of Vinous writes, "Simply put, the Napa Cabernets are some of the most pro-found, riveting, young wines I have tasted anywhere in the world,” and he goes on to say "When all is said and done, there is little doubt 2013 will go down as one of the all-time great vintages for Napa Valley.”
Following in the tradition of Hagafen Cabernet this wine is beautiful, lush and balanced. The nose starts our journey with deep rich black cherry, soft black pepper and hints of rosemary and violet. Continuing onto the palate we again find the luscious black cherry but added to it are notes of leather and wild blackberries. A long lingering supple finish ends our journey leaving wonderful memories to carry with us.
